This notice explains how The Longest Movie In The World project ("we", "us" and "our") collects and uses personal information. We are responsible for deciding how this information is used. You can contact us through our contact page.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, login details, account preferences and relevant dates and security records.
- Your submission: the video and audio you upload, your image and voice, your answer about Donald Trump, its duration and technical information, and records of our review and processing.
- Communications: information you send when you contact us or ask us to exercise a privacy right.
- Mailing-list information: your email address and consent record if you choose to receive project updates.
- Donation information: your name, email address, donation amount, payment status and Stripe or NOWPayments payment reference. Stripe or NOWPayments receives and processes your payment details; we do not receive your full card or wallet details.
- Website information: essential session and security information and, only if you accept analytics, information about visits, devices and interactions.
Political opinions and explicit consent
A video submission and the accompanying answer may reveal a political opinion. UK data protection law treats political opinions as special category data. We ask for your explicit consent before accepting a submission. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it was withdrawn.
How and why we use information
We use personal information to create and administer accounts, receive and review submissions, communicate processing results, moderate content, protect the service from misuse, produce and promote the documentary, respond to enquiries and meet legal obligations.
Depending on the activity, our lawful bases are:
- taking steps at your request and providing the participation service;
- our legitimate interests in operating, securing and administering the project;
- your consent, including explicit consent for political opinions and consent for optional mailing-list and analytics activity; and
- compliance with legal obligations where applicable.
Who receives information
We use service providers only where needed to operate the project. These currently include bunny.net for video upload, transcoding, storage and delivery; Stripe and NOWPayments for secure donation processing; MailerLite for the optional mailing list and popup form; Google Analytics when analytics consent is given; Google Fonts; and our website hosting, email, security and professional-service providers. We do not sell personal information.
International processing
Some providers or their subprocessors may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use an adequacy regulation or appropriate contractual safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent approved clauses. Further information about safeguards is available on request.
How long we keep information
We keep account and submission information only while it is reasonably needed to administer, produce, distribute and preserve the documentary, resolve disputes, protect the service and meet legal obligations. Rejected files are removed from video storage where the service permits. Mailing-list information is kept until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent. Consent and suppression records may be retained where needed to respect your choices and demonstrate compliance. Donation and payment records may be retained where required for accounting, fraud prevention and legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technology
Essential cookies and local storage support login, security and your privacy preferences. Optional analytics is enabled only after you choose it. Opening the mailing-list form loads MailerLite technology so the form can work. You can revisit your choice using “Cookie settings” in the footer.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information; receive a portable copy; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent. To exercise a right, use our contact page. We may need information to confirm your identity.
You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
